The Ogun State government has expressed confidence that its ongoing summer camp for school children, ages 10 – 15, would significantly remould and broaden their intellectual capabilities for productivity and excellence.
Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Yetunde Onanuga said this while addressing students at the opening of the camp at the State Model School Ewekoro in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.
Onanuga was of the opinion that the various programmes and activities outlined for the students would not only rub off positively on them but would also make their stay at the venue, worthwhile.
She highlighted some of the programme’s activities to include, live skills performance and creative arts, sports and academics, noting that notable Nigerian Artists like Tunde Kilani, Jimi Solanke, Kate Hensaw among others have been lined up to impart their wealth of experience and professional prowess in the students for a better future apart from early morning devotion, academic works, endurance trek and individual games to mention a few.
Speaking at the ocassion, the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Modupe Mujota said the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and his wife, would be visiting the children during the camping period. About 100 participants have registered for the two week programme which commenced on Sunday 14th August 2016 according to a reporter while it is hoped that the number will be on the increase.
