BBNaija 2018: Cee-C Apologises To Tobi For Hurling Insults At Him

Big Brother Naija 2018 housemate, Cee-C has apologised to Tobi after verbally attacking him.

Cee-c had on Wednesday accused Tobi of gossiping about her with other housemates and decided to challenge him face-to-face, asking him to talk right before her instead of gossiping.

This caused her a strike from Biggie after he replayed the video of the fight to housemates.

Biggie announced that Cee-c had provoked Tobi with her words, even as he hailed Tobi for controlling himself by ignoring her.

However, after the whole incident, CeeC apologised to Tobi for the mean words she said to him.

She said “The insults came from somewhere. It came from the build up.

‘When I am really angry I have explosions like this that I could not hold it.

“There were times I knew I could have stopped but I felt like I needed to pass a message to you.

“Now I know there are better ways to have passed this message. I’m sure you are not used to me saying sorry but honestly I am sorry about the words I said to you.

“I hope i become a better person and learn my lesson from the strike.”

‘In Nollywood, People Get Roles Based On Their Looks’

Sam Anyamele,Nollywood actor, Sam Anyamele, never thought that film acting would become his primary means of livelihood someday. As a teenager, acting was just his favourite pastime.

The actor, in an interview with our correspondent, revealed that although his passion for the arts and entertainment was nurtured through music, by the time he had left secondary school his eyes were already fixed on starting a career in music.

He could play the guitar very well and  had, at different times, had short stints with different music bands around Lagos, including the popular DKB band – well-known for backing up most of the popular musicians in the country.

Also, Anyamele used to play in Sammy Needle’s band as a bass guitarist and backup singer.

Going down memory lane, he said, “My contemporaries were people like Mike Aremu, Wole Oni and Kunle Odutayo. Wole, Kunle and I used to be in the same band. I have forgotten the name of the band,

“At a point, I wanted to join Femi Kuti’s Afrobeat band as a guitarist, but the Christian in me couldn’t cope with the kind of lifestyles that members of the band led. I couldn’t imagine myself performing on stage alongside half-naked female dancers.

“I just couldn’t bring myself to play in such a band where people smoked a lot. I felt that, as a member of the Assemblies of God Church, I shouldn’t be seen in that kind of company,” he said. And that was long before he decided to focus on film acting.

Like most people, he was lured into film acting by the prospect of getting rich, getting famous and enjoying a glamorous lifestyle. But he did not get a break until he joined the cast of Wale Adenuga’s Superstory.

Ayamele was on the set of a new movie in Lagos last week. The film, tentatively titled, Mistake of a Night, is currently in the post-production stage. But it appears that his involvement in the work-in-progress was all about staying relevant in the fast-growing movie industry, which has evolved considerably over the last two decades.

To keep up the appearances, the actor had to squeeze out time from his tight schedule as a postgraduate student and graduate assistant at the University of Lagos, Akoka Campus to do this.

He explained why he decided to stay off the screen for a while and go back to school. “I have always thought about the next phase of life. So when I discovered in Nollywood that decisions were generally driven by sentiments and prospective actors were given roles on a movie simply on the basis of their looks, I decided that it was not the kind of place I should depend on for the rest of my life. As a pragmatic Nigerian, I had to think seriously about doing other things,” he said.

Also, recalling a certain period in the history of Nollywood when film marketers and distributors, who were also the major financiers of the movie industry at the time, decided to punish some popular actors and actresses by ‘banning’ them from participating in movie productions, he said, “That was when my fears about Nollywood were confirmed and I made up my mind not to tie my future to the industry.”

Still reflecting on the weaknesses inherent in the movie industry, Anyamele added, “I found out that many of those who made decisions for the industry, who spoke to the government on our behalf in those days, were not really core practitioners. That encouraged me to go back to school and get more education.”

Anyamele’s talent extends to drama productions, a surprisingly difficult terrain for many so-called screen idols in Nigeria. But he claims to be as comfortable when acting on stage as he is behind the cameras.

UK Police Probe Assault Claim Against Weinstein

Harvey-WeinsteinBritish police are investigating an allegation of sexual assault against disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein dating back to the 1980s, the Press Association news agency said Thursday.

Police in Liverpool, northwest England, confirmed they had received an allegation this week concerning an assault in London, although their statement did not mention Weinstein’s name.

“We can confirm we received a report at 8.40 am (0740 GMT) on Wednesday of an alleged sexual assault in the London area in the 1980s,” Merseyside Police said.

“The report has been referred to the Metropolitan Police.”

The Metropolitan Police, which covers London, said the allegation “will be assessed by officers from Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command”, although a spokesman refused to give any further details.

The Press Association cited unnamed sources in linking the case to Weinstein, who has faced an avalanche of claims of sexual harassment, assault and rape in recent days.

The Hollywood producer has apologised for his behaviour and acknowledged having “caused a lot of pain,” but denied specific charges including rape.

The actor who now preaches about God and the Christian faith, however, said masturbation is sinful.

He said, “I think that every adolescent has masturbated before. I feel guilty about it, I feel very dirty about it, there’s a lot of debate about masturbation being a sin or not but I think it’s a sin.”

‘’There is nothing said about it in the bible, nowhere in the scripture, but it is a sin completely.”

World’s Richest Woman Liliane Bettencourt Dies Aged 94

liliane-bettencourtL’Oreal heiress Liliane Bettencourt, the world’s richest woman whose old age was clouded by dementia, has died at the age of 94, her family said Thursday.

“Liliane Bettencourt died last night at home,” her daughter Francoise Bettencourt Meyers said in a statement. “My mother left peacefully.”

Bettencourt, the cosmetics giant’s principal shareholder, was the 14th richest person in the world, according to Forbes magazine, which estimated her net worth in March at $39.5 billion (33 billion euros).

She was rarely seen in public since leaving the L’Oreal board in 2012, but her name remained in the headlines as members of her entourage were charged with exploiting her failing mental health.

Bettencourt had been declared unfit to run her own affairs in 2011 after a medical report showing she had suffered from “mixed dementia” and “moderately severe” Alzheimer’s disease since 2006.

The complex legal case involved a bitter feud with her only daughter and unscrupulous friends, and even dragged in former president Nicolas Sarkozy.

Patrice de Maistre, who managed Bettencourt’s vast fortune, was accused of getting her to hand over envelopes of cash to members of Sarkozy’s right-wing UMP party during his 2007 presidential campaign.

The charges against Sarkozy were dropped in October 2013 due to lack of evidence.

Frank Edoho Dropped As WWTBAM Host

frank edohoDuring the week, it was announced that popular family game show, Who Wants To Be A Million would be back on air with a new sponsor, Airopay.

Saturday Beats reliably gathered that after 13 years of hosting the show, popular broadcaster, Frank Edoho, would be dropped and replaced by someone yet to be unveiled.

An organiser of the show told Saturday Beats that they did not have any problem with Edoho, so it was an amicable agreement.

“The only difference about the show is that the star prize money has reduced from N10m to N5m. Also, it is very likely that we are not going to use Frank Edoho as our anchor. We are not dropping him because we had any issue with him. I think he feels it is time to go and find other endeavours.

“For now, our viewers would only be able to play on the MTN platform till we are able to sort out ways whereby they can play from any network provider and that would be resolved very soon. We are under no obligation to play on the MTN platform alone. Airopay is thrilled to partner with Ultima Limited, whose passion and dedication to quality and world class productions are well known, by sponsoring the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Nigeria game show. Airopay is honoured by this partnership. Airopay and Ultima are convinced that the synergy between Airopay and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire game show will be mutually beneficial,” the source said.
