SUBEB Re-Assures On Equal Access To Basic Education

The Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has re-affirmed its commitment to ensure that children of school age have equal and unhindered access to quality basic education, irrespective of their parents’ social status.

The Chairman of the Board, Alhaji Olatunde Okewole stated this when he led management staff of the board to  monitor  resumption of public primary schools for the 2017/2018 second term academic session.

He said Government had prioritised the education sector in the 2018 budget to further boost it to be in line with global standards, adding that the objective of the monitoring was not only to check pupils’ attendance but also to take stock of the infrastructure and welfare of teachers for government’s intervention, where necessary.

The SUBEB boss who visited selected schools across the three Senatorial Districts of the State, expressed satisfaction at the improvement in attendance of the pupils and their teachers.

‘’The attendance has improved, we however want a full attendance, not partial. Parents should be interested in their wards, wake up to the responsibilities and do the needful’’, he said.

Alhaji Okewole equally charged teachers to rededicate themselves to their professional calling by ensuring that they give their best to make the pupils useful to the society in the future.

Head Teacher of Local Government Nursery & Primary School II, Ita-Otu in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area, Mrs. Adeyemi Serifat, who spoke on behalf of other teachers, appreciated government for prioritizing education, expressing their readiness to do more this new academic session.
