Prof. Johnson Sanwo has commended the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration on the screening and data capturing exercise it has embarked upon for State Pensioners, saying life could have been difficult for him but for the prompt payment of pensions the exercise has engendered.
Prof. Sanwo, a retiree of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, made this known during the on-going verification and bio-metric capturing exercise for Ogun State pensioners who had share in the federal pension under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) of the Federal Government held at Oke-Mosan, Aboekuta.
The Professor who was one of the beneficiaries of the scheme noted that he had been surviving on his state monthly pension, commending the effort of the present administration in this regard.
‘’Can you imagine, since 2008 till now if Ogun State has not being paying its own part of the pensions, to its senior citizens, life will have been unbearable for us. Now Federal government is just trying to pay its own part of the pension.’’ Professor Sanwo said.
He noted that Ogun State Government was already ahead in the verification of pensioners, saying Pension Transition Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) of the Federal Government was just building its own data base to obviate the need for pensioners to always appear physically before they are paid as the exercise would guarantee them a valid identification.
