Proper training of a girl child has been described as a vital tool for women to attain gender equality that would enable them to make substantial contributions to the society.
Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning, Tpl (Mrs.) Yetunde Dina, stated this in her Office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, while receiving members of the Nigerian Girls Guides Association, Ogun State Chapter on a courtesy visit.
While emphasising the essence of training a girl child, Tpl Dina said the greatest support anyone could give women and children, was proper training, saying, their roles and responsibilities in the society could not be underestimated.
Earlier in her address, the leader of the team, who is also the National Commissioner for Educational Programmes, Mrs. Rhoda Thomas, said part of the Girls Guides’ mission was to enable girls and young women develop their potentials to the fullest and as responsible citizens of the world, adding that, the training of youths, especially the girl child needed to be taken seriously as it was better and easier to build children than to repair adult.
She however sought for the support of the State government, organisations and agencies, as well as individuals at achieving its goals by contributing financially and morally to the dream of the founding fathers of the association.
