Ogun To Generate 336 Mega Watts In 18 Months

electricity-POWERIn its bid towards boosting the existing power generation in the State and ending incessant power outage, the Ogun State Government has approved 12 Independent Power Providers (IPPs) to actualise the project in the State.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy, Mr. Taiwo Fagbemi disclosed this in an interview with news men at his office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Fagbemi said the project was approved by the present administration in its plans to ensure uninterrupted power supply, saying that twelve power companies were selected to provide and generate a total of 336 mega watts within 18 months of its commencement that will cut across the 3 senatorial districts of the State.

He revealed further that the selected IPPs had completed their Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) Waste Concession Agreement (WCA) and the Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU), explaining that these documents had been dully vetted by the Ministry of Justice.

The project would be fuelled by natural gas, solar, Waste of Energy (WTE), hydro and Joule-Box which would ensure its sustainability.
