The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunbi has been honoured with the Best Legislator Award in the State for 2017.
Presenting the Award to the Speaker, the Publisher of Hotnews Magazine, Mr David Adedapo said the media organization had carried out thorough scrutiny of Adekunbi’s activities in the last six and half years as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and found out that he had promoted harmonious relationships amongst his colleague-lawmakers as well as build mutual interdependence between the other arms of government which had led to the unprecedented development being witnessed in the State.
Adedapo noted that development could only be achieved in an atmosphere devoid of conflict and rancour, while commending the entire House of Assembly members for always putting the interest of the Sate first in all their activities.
Receiving the Award, Adekunbi thanked the media organization for founding him worthy of the honour, while dedicating it to his colleague-lawmakers.
The Speaker noted that the successes recorded would not have been possible without their support at ensuring that the House put in place people-oriented legislations for the development of all parts of the State.
In another development, the State Assembly has called on the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to immediately find a lasting solution to the epileptic power supply being experienced presently in some parts of the State.
Adekunbi made the call while responding to the submission of the Minority Leader, Olawale Alausa who complained of ineffectiveness of the Company at providing power supply to Ijebu Ode community which had been in darkness, appealing to the Power Distribution Company to evolve measures at improving services to the citizenry.
Corroborating Alausa’s view, the Deputy Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, stressed the need for IBEDC as a privatized company to be proactive in the discharge of its duty, adding that adequate power supply to end-users would add to the socio-economic development of the State.
