In order to address the technical and vocational skill deficit in the State and the nation at large, the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has approved the conversion of Adeoye Lambo Model College at Onijanganjangan in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the State to Government Science and Technical College.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Modupe Mujota, disclosed this while briefing members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology in Abeokuta, adding that four additional model colleges would be opened for academic activities by January, 2018.
Mujota who lauded the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration for its modest achievements in the sector, pointed out that present economic realities in the country had been a major challenge for the ministry in meeting its target for the outgoing year.
The Education Commissioner said notwithstanding, the ministry had been able to perform above average. For instance, she said a total sum of N738 million had been generated as at August 2017 out of the expected N1.5 billion revenue of the ministry.
On students’ performance at this year’s West African School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), Mrs. Mujota said there has been great improvement compared with what was obtained last year.
Responding, Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Victor Fasanya commended the management of the ministry for the feat recorded in the outgoing year.
