New Power Plant Has No Adverse Effect – OGSG

The Ogun State Government has assured people of Ipokia Local Government and its environs that the 5MW Solar Power Energy to be constructed in the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia, would not have any adverse effect or health hazard on the people and community at large.

Addressing newsmen after the  Town Hall Meeting held at Ipokia,, the Consultant to the Governor on Energy, Chief Taiwo Fagbemi, assured that the project would not have any adverse effect on the environment, explaining that government has taken such into consideration before embarking on the project.

While disclosing that the life span of each panel to be used would be between 30 – 50 years before its expiry date and would be disposed outside the shores of the country, Fagbemi noted that the purpose of the meeting was to achieve a mini energy update of the area and also know the level or capacity of the electricity the people in the area would consume.

In his remark, the Chief Executive Officer of Sholep Energy, Engineer Olalekan Sogbesan, said the project was privately driven but facilitated and monitored by government, assuring that the host community would benefit from the project, which would be rechargeable.

He also promised that the meters to be used by prospective consumers would be ready soon and the modalities for payment would be easy and affordable.

On his part, the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Amos Dosu Senayan, appreciated the government for establishing the Polytechnic in the area, which gave birth to the Solar Power and assured the State Government of his people’s readiness to protect the plant from vandalization.
