LG Commissioner Commends Ijebu-Ode On Road Construction

Chief-Jide-Ojuko 1The Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko has commended the authorities of Ijebu Ode Local Government for embarking on the construction of four km Eriwe road in the council area, calling for more collaborative efforts by LGs to complement the State Government’s rural development agenda.


The Commissioner gave this commendation during a working tour to Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in the State as part of the Ministry’s oversight functions.


Ojuko  noted that the council by the development had begun to justify government’s intentions for creating additional Local  Council Development Areas (LCDAs), challenging other Local Government Authorities to take a cue from it .


“Now that Ijebu Ode Local Government  have LCDAs under it, it makes the job easier as they now have a lesser area to manage and here is the effect of such a wonderful management. I’m impressed by this developmen,’’ Ojuko remarked.


Chairman, Ijebu Ode Local Government, Arch. Ola Oduwole said the area where the road was being constructed had been abandoned and had become a dump site for over 25 years ago, adding that evacuation of cow dung along the road would soon commence as the Council was determined to ensure that Ijebu Ode and its environs reflected its true image and identity it was known for.


Other Councils visited by the Commissioner were Mokoloki LCDA in Obafemi Owode where a borehole had been earlier commissioned to mark one year in office of the newly created LCDA, while the Commissioner also inspected the on-going construction of Ifekowajo LCDA office at Imodi Mosan.
