Create Wealth Out of Waste, Amosun Admonishes Youths

          The Governor of Ogun State, Senator, Ibikunle Amosun has called on Nigerians to take advantage of the natural resources embedded in the country to create wealth out of waste, adding that this would help protect the environment from degradation.

          Senator Amosun said this while receiving the delegation of the Green Education for the Youth Ambassadors led by the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun at the conference hall of the Governor’s office, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta.

          According to the Governor, “it is our responsibility that we manage our waste to our advantage, turn waste to wealth and plant lots of trees to reverse the effect of climate change”.

          He therefore charged the Ambassadors to spread the green campaign to their friends, neighbours, family members, and Schools to better drive home the point that the environment needed to be sustained, encouraging them to create a platform where they could share their experiences with other youths.

          In her remarks, the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun explained that the 12 GEFTY Ambassadors were the finalists that emerged from the 1st National Green Essay competition she organised in association with Channels Television to encourage youths to read the Green Education For The Youth Book she wrote.

          She added that the ideas behind the going – green initiative was to encourage the future generation to join the campaign of sustaining the environment by learning how to reduce waste production, re-use waste to reduce the adverse effect of climate change as well as recycle waste in order to protect the environment.

          Relaying their experiences, the GEFTY Ambassadors said the Environmental sustainability training in the UK which was sponsored by the Wife of the Governor as a reward for emerging best in the Green National Essay Competition was a privilege for them to learn more about the green initiative which teaches them on how to reduce the use of fossil fuel to safe the environment from degradation.
