Commissioner Visits Family Of Late LG Boss

The State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko, has paid a condolence visit to  both political and career staff of Afon Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Ogun West Senatorial District, on the demise of the Chairman, Hon. Jide Ogunesan,

Ojuko who was accompanied by some management staff of the ministry, described the death of the LG Boss as shocking and a great loss, not only to the family, but the State as a whole, adding that his leadership qualities and managerial acumen, would be greatly missed.

While praying for the repose of his soul and the family, the strength to bear the loss, the Commissioner said the visit was to convey the State government’s condolence to the council, as well as, chart new way forward, to ensure smooth running of activities in the Council.

Chief Ojuko pointed out that, as part of measures to ensure stable and continuous administrative flow in the council, the State government has directed the Vice Chairman, Hon. Abdulateef Akinwunmi, to coordinate the affairs of the Council till further notice.

“The Vice Chairman is therefore to take charge of the Council by coordinating its affairs, so that the system in place does not collapse.

‘’I also use this medium to appeal to the leadership of the legislative house and the Head of Local Government Administration and his team, to cooperate with the Vice Chairman, who will now be in acting capacity”, Ojuko stated.

Responding, the Acting Chairman, Hon. Akinwunmi, appreciated the State government for taking the right step at ensuring that the Council did not suffer any set back, urging all members of staff to join hands with him to continue with the existing structure put in place by the late Chairman.

He added that he would put in his best to continue from where his predecessor had stopped, saying the mission to rebuild the state as championed by the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration, would not be truncated in the local council.

The Commissioner later visited the palace of the Obaladi of Afonland, Oba Busari Adetona and the immediate family of the deceased, to commiserate with them.
